Fa Ying by Rama V @ Paradigm Mall

I'm a little shy to admit that I'm a habituĂ© at Paradigm Mall now.

Yesterday was the first time I step foot into The Boulevard and little did I know there was so many distinctive eateries tucked along this corner of mall, from Bulgogi Brothers, Serai to Papa Rich and many more. What took me so long?

Located on Level 1, same floor as Marks & Spencer, there is a connecting walkway to The Boulevard via the side entrance of Bulgogi Brothers in the Mall.

Fa Ying by Rama V

Fa Ying is the latest addition of the every popular Rama V Thai Restaurants. Set in a casual and laid back environment, this place serves a decent range of Thai tapas and Thai fusion cuisine with a modern twist.

The restaurant is halal but serves alcohol.

There was not a lot to the Menu but sufficient for those wanting to try out some Thai-Fusion flavors.

I can't deny that I was delighted to be seated at the alfresco lounge area. There's this thing about Females and Cushions.

Customer service was prompt. Orders were taken quickly and drinks were served within 5 minutes and food in 10 minutes.

Fettuccini with Roasted Duck Curry. Rm22.

I had the Fettucine with Roasted Duck Curry. The pasta had a distinct curry flavor to it and the duck meat was well done also. The dish also had some pretty unusual garnish, like pineapples, tomatoes, curry leaves and this pea-like garnish that had a bitter taste to it. It was decent all in all.

Thai Stirfried Spegetti with Chicken and Seafood. Rm22.

One look at this dish, it reminded me of Pad Thai. The ingredients used was just about the same but instead of glass noodles, this was with spaghetti instead. The dish tasted a little sweet, salty and spicy at the same time, just like the pad thai.

The biggest downfall for me though, is that it was very very oily. Pasta obviously can't soaked up as much oil as the traditional glass noodle, hence it was practically soaked in oil. Also to note, there was way too much chilli flakes used. I would not recommend this.

Fa Ying Seafood Fried Rice. Rm20.

Being under one of the chef's recommendation category, the fried rice was just okay. The chicken satay was superb with all means, it was tender and marinated to perfection. The rice and sides on the other hand, was pretty standard. For the price paid for the dish, I'm pretty sure there is other better alternatives on the menu. I would not recommend this also.

Mushroom Soup. Rm16.

The mushroom soup was blissfully delicious. It was smooth and creamy and a perfect entree before the round of Thai infused main course. Portion was pretty huge too, good for sharing.

Carrot Juice. Rm10.

Lemongrass Basil. Rm13.

Overall Rating: 7/10. Besides the awesome Alfresco lounge area, customer service was satisfactory also. Food wise, it was just decent. Many have said that fusion cuisine should be rated one notch up because of its creativity. What do you think?
