Coffee Stain by Joseph @ Publika Solaris KL

A teddy sunbathing in a tub of hot chocolate! How cool is that!

We're fast approaching year end. The season of merry-making, workload-clearing and nonstop-partying.

Talking about merry-making - I've been doing just that. Catching up with friends, last minute Christmas shopping (it's really a great and valid excuse to shop for yourself too!) and not to mention, putting a close to many of my new years resolutions.

It has been equal parts of exhilaration and exhaustion this year. Still, I managed to pull myself together and had heaps of fun along the way. Another week to go guys! How was your 2013?

Coffee Stain by Joseph

I have a multitude of reasons to be grateful for this year, and one of it is how this food blog have progressed. Thanks to you-guys and my supportive friends and readers - my passion is still alive.

By all means, I wouldn't have done it any differently, anywhere else, anyway. Likewise, the growing appreciation of social and digital media in Asia is definitely trending up more than ever.

Bloggers, what makes you want to continue blogging?

I was a little apprehensive when I first step foot into Coffee Stain by Joseph. The cluttered collection of metal hardware and wooden furnitures - baring essentials, wouldn't compelled me to stay pass my finished cuppa. Definitely not the kind of cafe-ambience that made me felt at ease. It was probably one of those extremely glaring bright lights and being seated in a confined space didn't help at all. It made me a little awkward and perhaps, a tinge uncomfortable.

Can't complain though, no one else was. Intrigued by the unique artwork, this is the only other coffee place in town - at least of which I know of, that serves a good fix of hot chocolate with 3D coffee-art to boost. Lately though, I've seen people posting pictures of another, at Genting, Klang, which has similar concept.

Up the ante of latte art don't you think? For all one knows, in a couple of years time, coffee art will seize to exist and 3D-art becomes the norm.

I've read about them months ago and I'm glad I've finally gotten around to paying these guys a visit. Here are a few more pictures of my food.

Pancakes with Bacon Strips. Rm16.

The artsy stuff can only be done on a chocolate drink, not entirely sure why. A friend came to the conclusion that chocolate have thicker consistency, hence, able to withstand the extra weight, compared to coffee that is. Out of curiosity, I should've just asked the barista.

Overall Rating: 6/10. Depending on whether you're all in for the caffeine, or if you'd just like the idea of slurping from an adorable cup of popped-up foam. For me, admittedly in this case, I couldn't exactly appreciate the extras. I love the idea of having something really pretty, but taste speaks far more eloquently than presentation for me. On a side note - Merry Christmas!

  1. Ah, but is the hot chocolate nice to drink? It would further enhance the experience if they serve it with a marshmallow. :D
