It has been awhile since I've last attended a Nuffnang event. Was I eager to rekindle with the rest of my Tastebuddies clan - over lunch of course!

8 Must Try Desserts at Ben's
Ben's
My GPS radar didn't function well that Saturday afternoon, I had a tough time looking for the place.
Albeit frequenting BSC quite a fair bit, I rarely step pass the first floor. It took me a good 10 minutes and a couple of phone calls before making my way into Ben's. Talk about being a klutz like that.
Today, it was a free-to-order-whatever-you-like review. As usual, I had a tough time deciding on my fancies. Thus, the unreasonable amount of time spend flipping through its menu. Thankfully, we were ordering to share.
Berry Basil Lemonade. Rm9.90.
Latte. Rm7.90.
Crab and Ebiko Salad. Rm25.
The ebiko infused coleslaw with butterhead lettuce was a delight. Crunchy and with a tinge of creaminess to boost.
Burnt Butter Wild Mushroom Salad. Rm24.
One look and I thought - this is going to be one dull salad. To my surprise, the requefort cheese, caramelised walnuts, coriander and truffle oil was such a clever combination - rich from the cheese and flavourful from the caramelised walnuts.
Deconstructed Thai Beef Salad. Rm27.
Thai-styled beef cooked medium rare with sour green mango shreds accomopanied with an assortment of condiments at the side. I figured the salad needed a tinge more dressing.
Chunky Mushroom Soup. Rm15.
Chunky mushroom soup drizzled with truffle oil.
Golden Soft Shell Crab Spaghettini. Rm24.
This dish used to be one of my favourites at Ben's, clearly because of my love for soft shell crab. Disclaimer: It could get really jelak towards the end!
Mexicana Tortilla. Rm24.
Grilled chicken, savoury bean stew, mashed avocado, a handful of jalapeno and salad, all folded and wrapped in a soft giant tortilla. Comes with crispy nachos too!
Steak Frites. Rm53.
Being the most expensive dish ordered that day, this slab of char-grilled striploin cooked to a medium rare texture, came far below expectation. The meat was in desperate need of marination and flavours.
Ben's Nasi Istimewa. Rm40.
An abundance of Malaysian delights - coconut milk infused rice that was oh-so-fragrant, served with short rib rendang, chicken berempah and sambal udang. Another one of those must-have dishes at ben's.
Teriyaki Salmon with Sesame Seed Crust. Rm40.
A slice of pan fried salmon sprinkled with myriad of sesame seeds, served on a bed of sweet teriyaki sauce.
Sticky Date Pudding. Rm14.
First up for dessert, I had the sticky date pudding - gooey and moist, drenched in caramel sauce and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Banoffee Sundae. Rm13.
If you're looking for an ice cream dessert - this is for you. An addictive combo of banana, toffee, vanilla ice cream and an assortment of sweet and chocolaty goodies. One of my top picks!
Macadamia Caramel Cheesecake. Rm15.
Look at that! A fine slice of cheesecake topped with macadamia brittles and a splash of warm caramel sauce.
Before I end this, on a side note, BSC has such exorbitant parking rates, Rm3/hr. The most expensive in Bangsar I'm sure.
Full Menu is available Here.
Overall Rating: 6.5/10. Ben's has always been my Plan B whenever I am shy of foodie inspirations. Need I say more?
Ben's is located at:
Third floor, Bangsar Shopping Centre, 285 Jalan Maarof, Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar.
