It's so hot. The weather I mean.
In fact, the scorching weather almost prevented me from stepping out of my then extremely comfortable air conditioned room. This is not good, especially knowing that I'm missing out on all the fun. Nevertheless, I did dragged myself out in the end and drove to Pickle and Fig on that tropical afternoon.
Pickle & Fig
Pickle and Fig. This place is known for it's hot pressed panini and cold gourmet sandwiches. But of course, like most cafes nowadays, you'd get the essential coffees and teas, as well a nice range of fresh smoothies.
Flat White. Rm8.
Flat white was alright - somewhat acidic but not full-bodied. The glass came a little smaller than usual though.
Hoisin Chicken and Grilled Zuchini. Rm16.
Sliced chicken breast topped with grilled zucchini with an oozing egg and melted mozzarella.
Smoked Turkey Roll. Rm15.
Wholemeal panini and smoked turkey roll with sauteed mushrooms and melted cheddar.
Overall Rating: 7.5/10. The sandwiches were really good - perfectly pressed panini with just the right texture of crisp-and-fluff, the bread felt fresh and had toothsome textures; the smoked turkey roll was delicious and had a nice chew to it. Withal, both the sandwiches had a great mix of ingredients. It may seem simple but it was done just right. The wedges at the side - those are real potatoes and not your bag of frozen wedges.
That said, I felt that the sandwiches here are a hint overpriced. Though nowadays, cafe tabs would definitely chalk up a little more than that - but for sandwiches? The food was good no doubt, but it does look rather unexciting for me. Would I come back? Definitely, if I'm out and about the neighborhood.
