Morganfield's
There's a reason they call this place the Home of Sticky Bones. I had a carnivorous-time chomping down on some of those amazing ribs at Morganfield's Pavilion sometime back. I couldn't stop thinking about it ever since.
I'm back here today, thrilled to sample some of their new menu offerings.
Morganfield's is famed for its American casual dining experience, carrying a touch of rustic European flair to boost. Their signature dish - Sticky Bones, a prime pork rib smoked in hickory wood and slathered with tangy hickory barbecue sauce will definitely get you hooked on the very first mouthful. I did!
Kick starting our meal with appetizers. I can't wait to tell you about those scrumptious Iberico baby back ribs!
Onion Blossom. Rm14.90.
This colossal flower of homemade crispy breaded onion was delicious - light and crisp, great if you'd like something to munch on before those heavy mains are served. It comes with barbecue mayonnaise dressing.
Jack Daniel's Glazed Iberico Baby Back. Rm49.90.
The Iberico baby back rib comes in two sauces - Jack Daniels and Jim Beam. This is Jack - and also the Rockstar of my meal today. Beautifully grilled and glazed - I was clearly enthralled. We had to share you see, else I would've easily famished this all on my own.
Jim Beam BBQ Iberico Baby Back. Rm49.90.
The toothsome textures of these premium Iberico ribs are to die for - leaner and undeniably sweeter compared to the conventional spare ribs. To add, the sauce taste nothing as rich as Jim Beam - it's just the basting.
Beef Ribs. Rm54.90.
These imported beef ribs were slow-cooked, grilled and doused with hickory BBQ sauce. It was juicy, tender and flavorful. I have to admit though, it wasn't as good as those tantalizing Iberico that I had earlier.
Lamb Rack Ribs. Rm54.90.
Ribs Sampler. Rm179.90.
The infamous and humongous signature sharing platter that we always see on our friend's FB and IG pictures. A definite photography must.
You'd get to sample - 3 half slabs of BBQ spare ribs with a choice of 4 flavors (Hickory BBQ, Garlicky BBQ, Smoked Peppercorn, Spicy Asian BBQ), 3 types of Morganfield's signature homemade sausages, grilled corn, garden salad, corn muffin, and fries. What a feast!
My favorite Sticky Bones flavor would have to be Hickory BBQ and Garlicky BBQ sauce. The Spicy Asian BBQ rib that I had proved to be a bit too dry for my liking. It wasn't the choice of sauce per se, but rather, the overcooked ribs that disappoint.
They are also running a Instagram competition at the moment. I was coerced into taking pictures of myself with those massive sticky bones. Paiseh, but it was fun. Overall Rating: 8/10. The pick of my meal would have to be the Jack Daniels Iberico baby back ribs (Rm49.90), followed by the Hickory BBQ spare ribs that I had towards the end. For those coming in pairs, you can always opt for half slab (Rm39.90) or full slab (Rm69.90) of spare ribs. On that note, the beef ribs (Rm54.90) and lamb rack ribs (Rm54.90) that you saw earlier, are available for a limited time only, until 30 September 2014.
I started my feast feeling absolutely ravenous, but with my limited tummy space, I started slowing down gradually. At about half pass ten, I left Morganfield's unlongingly but with a satisfied and overflowing tummy. Despite a minor fallback towards the end of my meal, this is still one of my favorite ribs places to date.
