How about having some Spanish seafood paella while sipping on some exquisite Tio Pepe for brunch?
Wine lovers, you will love what I'm about to tell you shortly.
La Bodega
It's been awhile since I've last step foot into La Bodega. I'm not entirely sure too why. Perhaps I got more engrossed in visiting new places lately, that made me forgot about the classics.
I'm glad that I'm back here after a prolonged break and I'm feeling jovial that nothing much has changed.
La Bodega still retains that rustic charm for as long as I remember. Shelves loaded with never ending bottles of contemporary and vintage liquor, warm mahogany colors and and rustic wine barrels everywhere. I think they like it packed and cluttered.
The wine buffet that I'm going to tell you about today goes by the name of, El Corazon Del Vino, the heart of wine. That sounds a bit too deep to handle for a Sunday morning isn't it?
For Rm60++ per person, you'll get unlimited servings of exclusive wines with accompanying canapes. This buffet is only available at La Bodega BSC on Sundays only, from 12pm to 4pm.
Reiterating from the above, this is a wine buffet, not a Spanish food buffet. But of course, you'll still be able to sample some of La Bodega's signature finger foods and paella.
The featured wine of the month varies and as for the month of September, we have the Tio Pepe sherry and craft cocktails on free flow.
A little introduction to the Rockstar-of-the-day, Tio Pepe, a brand of sherry.
Pale golden color, clean and bright. Elegant with pungent aromas, almond notes and distinctive hints of the yeast. The palate is full bodied, crisp and very dry with a complex long finish.
Now, I am not a wine connoisseur. I am far from able to distinguish between a limited edition fine wine and an ordinary chardonnay. As much as appreciating the glory of wine tasting - I still have a long way to go. Shame on me. There. Hence, my review today is very much based on my personal liking.
I, for one, always prefer white than red, simply because its milder to my palates. So, Tio Pepe, you're in the lead.
Cocktails. My favorite. First up - the refreshing Aperol Soda. Followed by 5 well-rounded craft cocktails, all infused with the Tio Pepe sherry.
Aperol Soda |
Citrus Cup (Tio Pepe, Drambule Liqueur, Orange Juice, Orange Wheels) |
Garden Sprite (Tio Pepe, Lychee Liqueur, Strawberry Puree, Orange Wheels, Mint Leaves) |
Toffee Apple (Tio Pepe, Gin Broken, White Cacao Blanc, Apple Fruit, Brown Sugar) Salmon Roll (Tio Pepe, Martini Blanco, Salmon Rolls) |
Oceanic (Tio Pepe, Blue Curacao, Orange Juice) |
My pick - Citrus Orange and Garden Sprite. The rest of it would probably require an acquired taste.
Now, on to the food. I'm getting excited already.
Our breakfast was cooked right in front of our eyes. It was nice, and perhaps a little intriguing to see such a massive pan of paella prepared right there, to a point that everyone gathered upfront to take photographs. The tasty aroma that ensued probably attracted a lot of hungry onlookers and passerby.
Not forgetting the sweet platter of desserts that came towards the end of our meal, a Spanish version of a creme brulee, chocolate brownie and also macaroons.
