Rendez-Vous @ Bangsar KL - Best French Restaurant In Town!

I've heard so much good things about place. They say, Rendez-Vous serves one of the best and most affordable French food in town! How can I not be tempted?

Rendez-Vous

I stepped into a rather peaceful restaurant that midweek evening. I guess the thunderstorm really did tampered with everyone's plan to dine out. Not for me however. I came with a mission that evening - a mission to feast on some delicious French cuisine!

We picked a table closest to the walkway. A desperate attempt to catch the last moments of natural sunlight beaming through, before it sets and darkens in totality. I had another 30 minutes or so to go.

I picked up and casually flipped through the menu. French menu always confuses me, Italian ones too. Thankfully, service was impeccable. The attentive waiter did not only explained the core ingredients of a dish, but went on to elaborate on the way it was prepared, as well as gave me alternatives and thereof. Though there were a few dishes that I was very keen to try but was not available that evening, the service really did gave the restaurant a good vibe to begin with.

The sun set even before our appetizers were served.

Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc (Rm22). Chamomile Tea (Rm10).

Complimentary Amuse Bouche.

Goat Cheese Salad. Rm27.

Starting from the top - French Pélardon goat cheese, on honey, on toast, on loads of chopped bacon, and salad beneath. A simple yet delectable mix of flavors. We had a blast devouring this.

French Pork Pate. Rm19.

For those who're not familiar with pate, imagine this - textured spam served cold. For me, this was another great appetizer, best eaten with the sweet caramelized onions at the side. That said, pate may be an acquired taste.

Cod Fish With Asparagus Sauce. Rm46.

This cod fish was perfectly flaked and had a hint of additive smokiness to it. The cream sauce could have been more flavorful however. At the side, sauteed tomatoes, roasted potatoes and sauteed leek.

Roasted Pork Tenderloin. Rm36.

Chunks of roasted pork tenderloin made exceedingly tender, topped with savory French cepes mushrooms sauce. I'm positive that it takes a wealth of skills to perfect the meats this way - you've got to try it to believe me.

Overall Rating: 8/10. I arrived that evening expecting an overpriced menu in finger food portions - like how'd we expect all French restaurants in town to be. Little did I know, portions came way bigger than I'd expected, the salad itself felt like a main course! All in all, I had a marvelous meal here and it's obvious that Rendez-Vous is going into my Favorites List. I will definitely be back soon.
