Croisette Cafe
We were first to arrive that morning. There were no other customers apart from the motionless bodies sunbathing by the pool. It felt subdued and serene, perfect for a quiet afternoon of catching up with Sarah.
If you're just wondering - Croisette Cafe is situated inside Cascadium Condominium, on the third floor, right next to the pool. It's a rather small setup which can house about ten small tables altogether.
Throughout our meal, there were only one other table occupied, by a Japanese family. The French Chef husband and Malaysian wife duo weren't here that day. My guess is that they now spend most of their time in Penang, managing their newly opened Croisette branch there.
Expectations: Croisette is a casual cafe, serving simple and affordable French food. No fancy foie gras here. They pride themselves for serving homecooked French food, but with no French chef in the house that day, will the food still be as good?

This time round, we opted for the lunch sets. The dishes you're about to see below came highly recommended by the staff. Tip: Order the pork dishes!
English Breakfast Tea. Brewed Coffee.
Sardine Appetizer.
Sardine in olive oil rillettes and lemon, with a simple slice of lightly toasted bread at the side. It really didn't need the extra garnish, the sardine tasted good on its own.
Pork Pate Appetizer.
The corase and crumbly pork liver pate wasn't as rich as I thought it would be. This was delicious but my preference still lean towards the creamier ones.
Pan Grilled Chicken Breast with Roquefort Cream.
The chicken breast meat was succulent and juicy, sitting on a pool of roquefort cream sauce, which I thought could've been a tad richer and thicker. The roasted potato slices at the side was equally delightful.
Grilled Pork Chop with Dijon Mustard.
The grilled pork chop was delicious but the Dijon mustard sauce probably won our hearts. This was scrumptious!
Mousse Trio Chocolate.
Three layers of dacadent chocolate mousse that had lush creamy textures, not too rich, just the way I liked it.
A huge bowl of creme brulee! To finish this, you'd probably need not one, but a crowd of sweet tooth. This was a wonderful treat to end our meal.
Overall Rating: 7/10. With the French Chef barely here nor there, it felt as though the food I sampled today were lacking a little of that French touch. The appetizer, mains and desserts were good, I really couldn't find much fault in it, except that it didn't exactly excite my tastebuds. Perhaps I didn't pick the right dishes to order. Having said that, I thought that the food served here are value for money and came in very reasonable portions too. RM30 on weekdays for all of that? This has got to be one of the best deals in town. If you're looking for affordable, delicious yet not overly exotic French food in PJ or KL, Croisette Cafe would do you well.

The size of pork chop looks small but the huge serving of creme brulee compensate it LOL
