2OX @ Jalan Doraisamy, The Row KL - Casual French Flair.

Last weekend, I was invited to have dinner at 2OX, the newest restaurant in line, that have since opened up at The Row KL, or what they used to call, Asian Heritage Row.

2OX is a casual French Bistro, helmed by the same team behind the prominent Maison Francaise, a French fine dining restaurant not far off from where I was. Here, you'd get to enjoy casual yet sohisticated french food, minus all the pretentious manners of sitting upright - thankfully for me.

On a side note, it's Two Ox, like ox - the male cow, and not Two-Zero-X.

2OX Food and Beverage Menu and Prices Here.

My fat Partner In Crime for today's meal.

Despite being spanking new, at only two-weeks old, 2OX was running on full capacity while I was there. Many of which were regulars from it's maiden french restaurant. If you'd ask me, it sounds like they're on mark to set a pretty impressive track record.

Before I knew it, plates of appetizers were placed on the table. Bon Appetit!

Fresh Mozzarella Cheese, Tomato And Jamon Ham. Rm48.

The first appetizer had wonderfully balanced textures - juiciness from the tomato; creaminess from the mozzarella cheese; richness from the savory jamon ham - I love jamon hams.

Salmon Rillette. Rm38.

To be eaten together - toasted baguette, lettuce, tomato and salmon rillette. The salmon rillette was enjoyable, very meaty yet easy to spread, and the toasted baguette gave it a nice crunch.

Josper Oven Grilled Pork Rib Chop. Rm75.

I have mixed feelings about this dish - too much lean meat, and I prefer the fatty cuts. Personal perference aside, the thick cut of pork chop was done well, on a sauce that had hints of sourness, infused with white wine.

Josper Oven Grilled Squid with Fresh Lemon. Rm59.

My appetite have been awaken! Simple spices yet deceptively flavorful - loads of garlic, chili flakes, parsley and a drizzle of olive oil. Even on its own, the grilled squid had a elicious charry aftertaste. Bigger portion maybe?

7 Hours Low Temperature Cooked Beef Oysterblade. Rm88.

I think I've found my favorite beef cut - oyster blade. The meat was delicate and tender, enhanced by a pool of savory brown sauce. The mashed potato at the side was equally scrumptious.

Classic Creme Brulee. Rm15.

This classic creme brulee probably needs no introduction and it'd really didn't need such a huge dish.

Lemon Tart Meringue En Verrine. Rm15.

The best lemon tart meringue ever! The lemon curd was velvety and the meringue perfectly fluffed. Delectable!

Overall Rating: 8/10. There were plenty of good food going around today. My pick would be the Mozzarella Cheese & Jamon Ham, 7 Hours Low Temperature Beef Oysterblade, Joven Oven Grilled Squid and the Lemon Tart Meringue. On the other hand, the beverage menu are well-priced, starting from Rm20 for a glass of wine and Rm18 for cocktails and the likes. So for those happy hours folks and those wanting to have a taste of casual french food in KL, you know where to go.
