Flingstones Cafe @ SS15 Subang Jaya

Imagine a feast jam-packed with artery-clogging pork bacon and lard, then closing the meal with cendol and gula melaka cakes for dessert. That's, exactly the kind of culinary experience I'm bringing you about in this writeup.

On my first visit to Flingstones Cafe, I had taste of the much talked about chu yao char pasta and also what I thought was one of the most affordable pork ribs in town.

Last weekend, I was keen to keep eating my way through the menu. So I returned to sample the remaining of their western-oriental-fusion menu and it turned out to be an unexpected treat.

Now let's start with drinks.

Troopers White & Dark Side (Rm15/each). For all you Star Wars fans! Choose your very own vader coffee cubes or troppers milky cubes! My pick would be the white over black, with hot chocolate poured over. It may take awhile for those cubes to melt, so be patient!
Dirty Gingerman (Rm13). Dirty was in fact - a sweetheart. It came with housemade ginger syrup, which gave it a nice touch of sweetness, and reminded me of a spiced chai latte. Best drank on a rainy day.
Piccolo Latte (Rm9). Basically, a baby latte.
Gula Melaka Latte (Rm11). Latte, with subtle hints of gula melaka.
Citrus Sparkling (Rm13). For those who'd prefer to shy away from caffeine, this refreshing citrus sparkling drink would do you great.
Anytime Salad (Rm12)The greens were fresh and crunchy; the crispy bacon bits added a savory chew to the salad; the roast sesame dressing gave it a sweet and wonderful finish.
Chargrilled Oink Oink Ribs that tore right off its bone, glazed with sweet and sour plum sauce. It'd probably needed more stickiness for added satisfaction, but for that price (Rm33/Full Rack & Rm28/Half Rack), I can't complain. Comes with sweet potato fries and salad.
Porky Fat Rice XL (Rm20). Flingstones' housemade nasi lemak was scrumptious. Mama's rempah pork belly had toothsome textures and the minced pork sambal was fantastic. "If they sell those in a bottle, I would buy one," my friend exclaimed.
This photograph is probably not a good representation of the Big Bang Breakfast (Rm25) we had. It came with 7 types of breakfast goodies - BBQ sausage, pork bacon, hashbrown, sauteed mushrooms, baked beans, salad and scrambled eggs.
Chu Yao Char Angel Hair (Rm18). Not for the health conscious - a vibrant plate of spicy pasta tossed generously with pork lard and bacon bits. A simple dish that packed a punch full of flavors.
Kapowww Spaghetti (Rm18). Chinese stirfried kung pao chicken with peanuts, chillies and vegetables, alongside pasta - fusion like that. The textures didn't exactly intertwined, perhaps capellini would do a better job, I still enjoyed the sweet oriental flavors nevertheless.
Babi Fried Rice (Rm18). I'm not a huge fan of rice based dishes, but this is possibly one of the best fried rice I've had in awhile. It came with bacon, pork lard, chinese sausage and peels of century egg, which I gobbled up in spoon-fulls.
I enjoyed the Tiramisu (Rm12). It was smooth and creamy, topped with cocoa dustings.
Smooth Criminal (Rm16) was perfect for those who crave affogato. A scoop of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream, grass jelly underneath and a shot of houseblend espresso poured over.
The Gula Melaka Cake (Rm12) was utterly delectable, made addictive by the gula melaka brittle on top. Must have!
There was no cendol in the Cendol Cake (Rm12), but layers coconut cream, gula melaka jelly, sago pearls and my favorite pandan cake. It was not too sweet and rich, just the way I liked it.

The bundle of desserts I had that afternoon was marvelous, making it hard for me to pick which I liked the most. If you'd liked something a little more Malaysian, I'd recommend the Cendol Cake and Gula Melaka Cake. For the Tiramisu and Affogato enthusiast, Flingstone's version won't fail you.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10. We had a great meal at Flingstones Cafe today and undoubtedly one of the better cafes I've been to in the area. I will definitely return for a third visit, for sure.
