Mama San @ KLCC - Dendeng Balado!

That's right, that's the famous MamaSan you're looking at.

Mama San carries an intriguing array of Asian Fusion food, many of which are secret family recipes, passed down from Asian mothers around the region. Expect to see beautifully plated food in sharing portions here, using Asian ingredients but with a twist.

There are also two other Mamasan outlets, one in Bali and the other in Hong Kong.

Notwithstanding, I got very confused while flipping through the menu, it was bombarded with just too many words! Nevertheless, I shall let the photographs do the talking in this writeup.

Mama San Kuala Lumpur Menu And Prices Here.

If there's one appetizer I would highly recommend, it would be this Soft Shell Crab Rojak Salad (Rm25). It came with a medley of delicious rojak condiments underneath, doused in spicy tamarind chili sauce, and topped with my favorite crispy soft shell crab. Must have!
I really liked the Crispy Sotong (Rm32) too. The squid was done just right, covered in a light layer of batter. Have it with shreds of deep fried ginger flower and lemongrass, and don't forget to dip it in the chili jam for added flavors.
This Dendeng Balado (Rm55) would have to be my highlight of today's meal. The beef short ribs were incredibly tender and juicy, caramelised with palm sugar and herbs to a crisp perfection on the outside. On top, the kaffir lime leaves and lemon basil added texture and flavor to the overall dish. It was so good we had two of these!
After all we've had, the Kari Udang Nenas (Rm38), or prawns and pineapple in red curry, was easily forgettable.
Let's now head to India! The Butter Chicken (Rm45) was delicious! The chicken was good; the sweet curry was great, made from a secret concoction of herbs and spices, or what they call, garam masala. Have it with either Jasmine Rice (Rm8) or Cheese Naan (Rm14).
We didn't finish this Indian inspired Tandoori Fish (Rm55). The flesh was a little dry, though eaten together with the saffron cucumber and mint yogurt dip, I happily finished my portion.
I don't know about the rest, but the desserts here aren't exactly my fancy. The Fresh mango with sticky rice and black sesame ice cream (Rm20) tasted too rich and complicated for my tastebuds, and the Nutella buns with vanilla ice cream and kintamani espresso (Rm18) looked very much like the one I had Here and the bun texture weren't that great either. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the Durian panna cotta with white sticky rice and vanilla cream (Rm20). It was rich and creamy. Who can say no to durian!
Top pick! Our Lychee Tiffin Punch (Rm28) came stacked high, in two chilling tiffins to share.
We also sampled the Coconut Mojito (Rm32), P.I.M.P. (Rm28) and Espresso Ginger Martini (Rm33), which came with a dainty chocolate ball at the side.

Overall Rating: 8/10. I had a good meal that evening, made jolly with great company. Again, I carry a personal preference towards Asian Fusion food or Modern Cuisine, and I thought that Mama San is one of the betters ones I've come acrossed of late. My favorites would be the Dendeng Balado (clearly!), Butter Chicken, Soft Shell Crab Rojak Salad and the Lychee Tiffin Punch for drinks.
