Here's a peek at some of the newest and most popular eateries in Sri Petaling.
Tiny Temptress Artisan Patisserie
"Why is there so much dust around here?" I mumbled to my friend while taking a step into the lift. Newly renovated and located on the second floor, Tiny Temptress features gorgeous-looking artisan pastries and desserts - instagram-favorites, since it's opening. As expected, the place was crowded during my visit.
The Bear Necessities (RM14) was heavenly, layered with rich chocolate mousse. The Ispahan (RM24) on the other hand, was a disappointment. While the macaron looked beautiful on the outside, the texture was sadly moist and crumbly, with a huge air bubble inside. Thankfully, the raspberry, rose and lychee fillings tasted great. Macaron prices ranged from RM6 to RM10 for the salted egg version - not cheap.
On a side note, I couldn't help but compare the desserts here with that of Xiao by Crustz.
Overall Rating: 6/10.

Wayne's Cafe
Wayne's Cafe is the latest addition to Sri Petaling's growing list of eateries, and also the newest one in this list.
Upon recommendation, I ordered the Roast Pork (RM25), which came with conventional servings of apple sauce and gravy, alongside wedges and vegetables at the side. The cut of pork was lean, lightly moist and savory on every mouthful. I'm usually a fan of pork skin cracklings (addicted like that!), but I wasn't huge these ones - too salty and chewy! For drinks, I had refreshing blends of Peach Passion Yoghurt (RM12) and Red Berries Smoothie (RM12).
Overall Rating: 7/10.

Soft Launch Cafe
I reckoned Soft Launch Cafe would make a fantastic place to relax and have leisurely lunch or tea, over sweet and savory waffles. No inviting whiffs of toasted waffles here however.
The Strawberry Waffle (RM19) was one of the favorites in their menu. The waffle was crisp; the strawberries sour though refreshing; the cream not overwhelmingly sweet; the drizzle of honey was a nice balance to the overall dessert. Tip: must eat it all together!
Overall Rating: 7/10.

The Shotlist Cafe
Enough of the desserts and let's move on to the meats.
One of the best sellers at Shotlist Cafe is this Grilled Pork Loin (RM22.90). The dish may not looked as appealing but boy - it was gratifying. The grilled pork loin fillet had toothsome textures and the chef special espresso sauce enhanced the overall flavors of the dish. The sauce was not at all bitter but more savory and sweet. A surprising favorite of the day and definitely one of the better pork loin dishes I've had.
Overall Rating: 8/10.

103 Coffee Workshop
103 Coffee Workshop have been operating for about 2 years now, and very popular among neighbourhood peeps. Here, the menu is extensive, showcasing an array of Japanese fusion dishes.
I had the Strawberry Latte (RM13.90) which came with a shot of espresso, frozen strawberry cubes and a small jug of milk. The Kaisan Salad (RM21.90) was an unexpected delight, with all of my favorite ingredients in the bowl - fried salmon, jellyfish, deep fried crabstick, seaweed and bonito flakes, alongside spicy homemade dressing.
Overall Rating: 8/10.
