One - A restaurant which serves conventional dishes, executed really well, at an affordable price. It's also categorized as the default restaurant list, consisting of places which I'd typically revisit only when I'm uninspired to try new things.
Two - A restaurant which curates pretty (or whatnot) interesting dishes, possibly stirred by hype, and perhaps at a price point which only permits visiting on special occasions. These are the been-there-done-that restaurant.
Bonfire could very well be one or the other.
The "Campfire Breakfast" (RM32) was probably an uninspiring choice coming from me, but it was actually quite delicious. The duck fat roasted potatoes and grilled steak slices especially - so good. |
A dessert curated like a bonfire - what's not to like? Meant to be shared, The Big Bonfire (RM26) consists of a glass of burnt marshmallow meringue in vanilla custard and chocolate cream (which I thought was a tad too creamy for my liking), shortbread cookies shaped like branches (my favorite part of the dessert) and berry crumbles at the side. |
There's also an option to have the dessert torched in vodka, at no additional charge. |
Overall Rating: 7.5/10. The food was pleasantly delicious; Prices were reasonable for it's portion; Ambience were cozy (with need of improvements in their air ventilation system however); Customer service was good. What was probably lacking - excitement and a bit of hype.
