That evening, I was exceedingly psyched to have dinner here, knowingly so as it is one of the best Italian restaurant in Bangkok city.
The interior exuded sophistication and elegance, etched in rustic and industrial tones. There are also private dining rooms, aptly named Caterina and Lorenzo, offering diners a private atmosphere, alongside a view of the open kitchen concept. An impressive trio of young opera singers serenades, from 8.30pm - 10pm every evening.
I too, came dressed for the occasion, with an adjustable waistband, and plenty of tummy space to fill. The settings may be a little pretentious perhaps, but it's really all part of a very casual fine-dining experience.
Medici Kitchen & Bar is spearheaded by Chef Bart, the new Maverick Executive Chef of Hotel Muse.
In summary, the Italian-inspired-Mediterranean menu that I sampled, was inventive, exquisite and artistic. Be prepared to be surprised!
What a warm welcome! The Pumpkin and Truffle Soup came in the form of a cappucino, in a cup - now, that's a first. It was heartwarmingly delicious. |
The first dish consisted of various exquisite elements, delicately layed on a plate. Local Mud Crab and Avocado Mousse, rolled in a jelly- textured Tomato Cannelloni, and topped with a touch of Sturgeon Caviar (THB690). Every splat and smear on the plate was worth polishing up. |
Next, the Foie Gras Ravioli served with Truffle Cream was deceptively rich, aromatic, and had harmonious flavors. The dots of berry compote helped cut through the richness of the overall dish. Have it either or sprigs of shaved parmesan or without - I'd highly recommend with. |
The Roasted Snow Fish (THB1,610) was perfectly cooked, buttery, and had splendid textures. At the side, puttanesca, which ingredients typically include tomato, olives, capers and the lots. This was easily one of the best fish dish I've had to date. I love what I had so far, from a rich creamy pasta dish, to a simple pan-roasted fish. |
The Limoncello Sorbet, served as a palate cleanser, and came in a bowl of shaved ice. It was refreshingly sweet, sour, and with a bit of bitter aftertaste. |
Last but not least, my guilty pleasure of the evening came beautifully presented on the Chocolate Brownie Dessert Platter (THB440), with 6 varieties of chocolate in play. The one interesting surprise to the dessert would be the the bursty pop of crackling candy, nestled within the incredibly fluffy chocolate brownie. |
