When you think of takeaway pizzas - you think of the conventional, boring DP or PH options. On the contrary, if you think of dine-in pizza parlours - you think of more expensive, gourmet variants. Marvel Pizza at Damansara Uptown sits rightttt in between, and I managed to slot in a visit to this freshly-baked, 1-month-old pizza place.
Marvel Pizza is your no-frills, neighbourhood pizza parlour. Everything runs quick here - pizzas' are served on ready-to-eat or ready-to-takeaway boxes; payments are cashless - awesome; and everything is pretty much self-serve. It's also worthy to note that the place is pork-free.
What I had that afternoon felt like a feast for 10 - there were only 2 of us. It was definitely a chowdown, and also a silent competition on who ate more I reckoned, alongside an after-food coma that I never asked for. Anyhow, rest assured, nothing went to waste, I had pizzas and pastas for lunch and dinner the next day.
While waiting, else before you leave, you can also check out their cashless snack vending machine. Everything on display costs RM3.00.
Here's a full snapshot of Marvel Pizza's Menu & Prices. There's also an ongoing opening promotion of RM5.00 OFF for any min. purchase of RM30.00 and RM10.00 OFF for any min. purchase of RM50.00.
Let's start with the pizzas'. I taste tested 3 variants - chicken, beef and shrimp. There're 2 sizes available, 8" (M) and also 10" (L). What you see below, are the 8" (M) option. For a small eater like me, there were seriously plenty to go around.
The Prawn Pizza (RM25.90) came surprisingly-generously laden with prawns. You know how some pizzas' are just all-cheese with meager toppings, this one had both. Eat it while it's still hot!
The Chicken Pizza (RM25.90) came with tender chicken chunks, mushrooms, onions, mozarella cheese, in a tomato sauce base. There're only one type of crust available for now, and come to think of it, I actually prefer the crust to have a bit more char, for that added crunch.
Save the best for last they say, the Beef Pizza (RM29.90) was my favorite of the lots. The BBQ sauce base was very clever - sweet and savory on every bite, loaded with tender beef, capsicum, onions and loads of melted mozzarella cheese.
Apart from just pizzas', they also carry a decent array of sides - pastas', soups, snacks and cakes. For pastas', I had the Creamy Fettuccini with Baked Prawns (RM21.90), which was surprisingly done al dente, and also a basic pasta serving of Penne Arrabbiata (RM15.90). There is also an ongoing promotion for the fettuccini pasta, at RM15.00.
In frame : Lamb Wrap with Onion Rings (RM19.90), Waldorf Salad (RM12.90), Mushroom Soup (RM9.90). Don't expect much from the side snacks however, it's really meant to just complement your meal. I thought the lamb wrap was alright, filled with a decent serving of flavorful lamb chunks, and the salad simply gave the overall meal a nice balance.
It's been awhile since I've had sooo much to eat.
